The system performw well. There remains a problem with the shipment. It was incomplete and it has been necessary to file a protest with the credit card company.Amazon needs to make certain that their suppliers for used equipment send all of the components. They need to supply a check list to make certain they do not havea complaint about the completness of the shipment.
The CD player quit working after maybe 20 hours of use. According to the Sony customer service center I'll need to ship it to the Sony repair center in Laredo TX to have it fixed under warranty. I had expected better quality from Sony, but apparently they're now producing the same disposable crap as the cheaper brands.
I bought this little system to give to a donut shop where I play cards a couple times a week. Many people have commented on how good the quality of the sound coming from such a small unit is.The unit has been in place for over 8 months and in daily use for as much as 10 hours a day. I have made up a few MP3 disks for the shop and they play the unit everyday for many hours. The sound is very good and fills the shop without a problem. So I will rate the durability at 5 stars. I would say I have recieved my money's worth considering the price of the unit.
The disc 'drawer' says it doesn't have a disc in it when it does. I bought this Sony system in August of 2008. It has now broken (10/09). I am beyond the one year warranty period, so shipping this off for repair is not worth the price. I realize this was an inexpensive ($99 when I bought it) system, but I expected it to last for much longer than a year.
the mono has little effect on boosting the signal. I connected my larger speakers to the unit (not recommended) and the highsand lows are far more enhanced at more volume. For a small stereo, this unit delivers superior sound although the speakers included with the unit tend to strain at higher volumes. Another plus is the convenient controls on the main unit as wellas the remote. The cd and mp3 playback isexcellent. The radio reception is ok considering that Im located 50 milesfrom the nearest fm stations. I very seldom use the remote unless to set the clock and timers. overall a very versatile system for the money.
